This facility really excelled in our short-term care category, with an A- in this category. Our short-term care scores are arguably more critical for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. This facility also was given a favorable long-term care score. As a matter of fact, we gave them a grade of B+ in that area, which is one of our better. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
