Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This top notch nursing home also performed remarkably in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a score of A+. Few facilities fared better in this category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Our nursing grade includes many subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning patients at least once a day.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the fourth area, this nursing home was given a respectable short-term care grade. Even though this wasn't quite as elite as many of its other grades, this is really nothing to be ashamed of. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most critical for individuals in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
