Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this facility's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our best grades in that category with an A-. Inspection grades are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's higher category grades was in the category of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually performed better than most nursing homes in this category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 98.69707 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a life or death ailment for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
