Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall score was terrible, it actually fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that category, which is one of our better scores. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid places that had a long list of severe deficiencies. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't fare terribly in the area of long-term care. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which happens to be among its better scores. In calculating these long-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's personal care services. Once we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 65.09946 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Nevertheless, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care. This nursing home's received a bottom of the barrel short-term care grade where it was given an F. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Not surprisingly, we found that this facility provides substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
The next area we rated is nursing. This facility received a rock bottom grade of F in that area. In computing our nursing scores, we look at both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
