While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a relatively impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our more favorable scores in that area with a grade of B+. Inspection grades are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This facility was hit with 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

This facility's second best score was long-term care, but even there it received a grade of just D in that category. This is still a relatively poor grade. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category likely don't provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated a relatively low 64.51613 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

This facility ended up receiving a rock-bottom grade in our short-term care category. It was given an F in this category. In our short-term care score, we attempt to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. As you might expect, we found that this nursing home provides substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

The last area we analyzed is nursing, in which this facility received an abysmal score here also. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Our nursing score looks at the facility's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. In addition to rating below average in nursing hours per resident, this place also had poor marks in the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in both of these metrics. This is a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this nursing home's nursing rating quite a bit.
