Registered Staff Hours
The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an excellent inspection score. Its inspection grade was far superior to its overall score. In our inspections category, we gave it an A. Our inspection ratings are tied to several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home earned an B in the area of nursing. Our nursing grade is mostly based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving a patient at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the category of short-term care, this nursing home was awarded just a D in that category. With our short-term care grade, we try to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Based on its poor rating in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this facility offered substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed is long-term care, which proved to be this facility's weakest category. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is certainly a major concern. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. We were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated only 72.48322 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
