Facility Inspections
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it actually received an impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A-. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid places with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we gave this nursing home a C for its long-term care grade, which really isn't a bad grade. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. We were disappointed to learn that this facility vaccinated just 65.679016 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this nursing home excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. There are many criteria included in this area. Most of these subcategories are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last area, this facility really did not fare very well here either. Due to a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In our short-term care score, we try to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Considering its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to learn that this nursing home is well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 2.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
