Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

It should also be noted that this facility's short-term care grade outpaced its overall grade. In fact, we gave it a B for its short-term care grade. In computing our short-term care grades, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This category is generally a fair assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 5.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. Nursing ratings are primarily based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home was given its third best category grade in the category of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a respectable score. In the category of long-term care, we focus more on the amount of services offered by a facility, rather than more healthcare-oriented services. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were concerned by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 82.27848 percent of its patients for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Moving on the last category of inspections, this facility did not fare well. It received an F in this category. This pulled this facility's overall score down as we heavily weight this category. For facilities with poor inspection ratings, you should really scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This particular facility had 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a risk to resident safety or health. Lastly, we want to point out that this place was assessed large government fines of over $100,000. This usually suggests that a nursing home's poor performance spanned several years.
