Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Contributing to its strong assessment, this facility also received a superb long-term care score, with a grade of A-. Facilities that excel in this category typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.958336 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. The nursing grade is based on several factors, however, the paramount consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place Illinois in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving residents even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the next area, this facility received a respectable short-term care rating. While this isn't nearly as elite as some of its other category grades, this is still not a bad grade. Short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 2.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
