To go along with its favorable overall grade, we awarded this place an A for the area of inspections. Inspection scores are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home really excelled in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a score of A-. Very few facilities performed more favorably in this area. In crafting these short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to create a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this category is the number of residents that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. Our nursing grade includes many datapoints, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this facility actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we rated was long-term care, turned out to be this nursing home's least impressive category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that category. This was one of the couple of weak links in an otherwise impressive profile. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
