Facility Inspections
To go along with its relatively modest overall score, we awarded this facility an A- for our inspections rating. This is far better than the facility's overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given an impressive short-term care grade. As a matter of fact, we gave it a grade of B in that area, which happens to be one of our better. In computing these short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to create a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of C. In calculating a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses spend with patients and the level of skill of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's least impressive category is long-term care, which is the final area we analyzed. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area. Despite a few acceptable scores in other areas, this score is still of a concern so we wanted to point it out. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid percentage. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
