Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We would argue that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of the deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't perform terribly in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of C for that area, which wound up being another one of its more respectable grades. Our short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. There are a variety of factors within this category. Many of these factors are tied to staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was long-term care, where this nursing home received an abysmal grade in this category as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is obviously a major disappointment. Nursing homes that don't score well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 93.33333 percent of its patients, which is somewhat below what we expected. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
