Registered Staff Hours
Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility only received a D for its short-term care rating, which is actually one of its better category grades. Our short-term care grades are crucial for residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Given its grade in this area, we were not stunned to find that this facility was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we looked at. The final measure we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor metrics was damning for this facility's short-term care grade.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was long-term care, where this nursing home received an F. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is typically a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 89.26174 percent of its residents. This is significantly less than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the last area, this nursing home didn't fare well in this category either. With a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is really as bad as it gets. There are numerous criteria within this category. Many of the subcategories relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. In addition to performing badly in terms of nursing hours, this place also had terrible marks in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. For starters, we looked at the percentage of patients experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility was at more than twice the national average in both of these statistics. This is concerning when you consider that many bed sores and falls are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This sealed this facility's fate of receiving a weak nursing grade.
