Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong nursing home overall, it also earned A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Our inspection ratings are based on datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. It does not look like we have deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was awarded a very strong short-term care score. This actually ended up being this nursing home's second strongest category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A. With our short-term care category, we attempt to create a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third area we looked at is long-term care. Contributing to its dominant resume, this nursing home also excelled in that area. In fact, it received a grade of of A- in that category. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.5 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on to our next category, this facility also performed well in the nursing category. In fact, we awarded it an A- for this area. This finalized a straight A report card. The nursing rating assesses several data points, but the main consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
