Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home performed even better in our inspections category which is based on the facility's recent government inspections. We gave it an A for that area, which is one of our highest scores. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's quality category scores came in the category of long-term care. We gave them one of our stronger grades in that category, with a score of B+. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 96.38989 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a great way to avoid unnecessary deaths for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home was awarded a favorable short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final measure we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 5.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last area we graded is nursing. We awarded this facility a C in that area. When computing a facility's nursing grade, we consider the number of hours nurses are with patients and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a low total compared with most other nursing homes. Finally, nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Some falls could be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its patients.
