Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also was awarded a impressive long-term care score. In fact, this is its second strongest category score. In that category, we awarded this facility a score of A-. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 96.52778 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. There are a host of subcategories within this area. Many of the subcategories are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we scored is short-term care, in which this nursing home received a B. Believe it or not, this was this nursing home's weakest category. A nursing home could be doing a lot worse when their worst grade still is better than most other facilities. In the area of short-term care, we strive to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
