Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We just couldn't find anything positive to say about this nursing home. It received just a D for short-term care. Tragically, this proved to be its best grade. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Considering its grade in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we assessed. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Among this facility's alarming category grades was an F for its inspection rating. More often than not, this means we found some red flags on the facility's government inspection reports. For facilities with poor inspection ratings, you should scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This nursing home had 6 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. In calculating a facility's nursing grade, we consider the amount of time nurses are with residents as well as the level of skill of those nurses. With only 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day, this place's nurse staffing levels were well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we looked at is long-term care. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is a very poor score. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated 89.40398 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be several points below what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
