Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. This grade is much more impressive than the place's overall grade. Our inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also want to point out that this facility received a decent grade in our nursing category. We awarded it a grade of C in the area. Nursing ratings are largely tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we looked at was long-term care, where this facility was awarded a C in this category. Long-term care grades assess a facility's personal care rather than the skilled therapy and medical services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.05 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final category, this facility did not fare very well here either. With a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Short-term care scores are meaningful for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more skilled nursing. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. As you might expect, we learned that this place provides substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we considered the number of residents that were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
