Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of being a first rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in our long-term care category, where it earned an A. Few facilities performed better in this category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening ailment for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive category grades, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Nursing scores are primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The fourth area we rated was short-term care, where this nursing home received an A-. This wrapped up a very strong report card. Not many nursing homes earned an A- or higher in all four categories. With our short-term care category, we strive to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
