Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall performance, we gave this nursing home an A- for the area of inspections. Inspection scores are based on many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor dings are not something to panic about.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Building on its strong performance in other areas, we gave this nursing home an B+ for our nursing rating. Our nursing score weighs quite a few subcategories, many of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was awarded an impressive short-term care score. In fact, we gave it an above average grade of B in this category. In crafting our short-term care scores, we analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last area we analyzed is long-term care, which proved to be this facility's weakest area. We gave this facility a grade of D in that category. Sadly, this score hurt the nursing home's overall profile to some degree. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care ratings. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.2126 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this place also keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
