Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this area usually have few severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
We also gave this nursing home a score of A+ for its short-term care grade. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This nursing home is substantially above average in terms of its quantity of both registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients. In fact, it supplied roughly 1.5 times as much care per resident from both of these care providers than the typical nursing home provided. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy hours, we found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in the country in this area with 62.7 percent of its residents returning home.
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Nursing ratings are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This place provides an incredible 4.1 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Very few nursing homes provide this quantity of nursing care to their patients. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing impressive levels of nursing care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. It performed as well as any facility in the country in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care. We awarded this facility a solid score in that area, with a grade of B-. While this isn't on par with some of this facility's other scores, it is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. Long-term care grades are vital for individuals seeking non-healthcare services such as personal care. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. It doesn't appear that this facility submitted vaccination data. Lastly, this nursing home excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
