Facility Inspections
While we graded this place incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a relatively impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better scores in that area with a B+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we gave this facility a grade of C for our short-term care score, which is not too bad of a score. In determining our short-term care scores, we size up the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is typically a useful measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely affected quality of care. The final measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it an D for that category, which is one of our best grades. Our nursing grade weighs quite a few subcategories, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored was long-term care, where this facility was given a rock bottom grade in this area also. It received an F for this area, which is obviously a major concern. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.55073 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
