Although we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we want to note its decent inspections in recent years. We awarded it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in this category. Inspection scores are based on several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

The next best category we awarded this facility in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Unfortunately, this place was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing grade is based on many datapoints, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below average. Lastly, our nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.

The next category we assessed is long-term care, which was this nursing home's weakest category. We gave this facility a grade of D in that area. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.60784 percent of its residents, which is more than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
