Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Our inspection scores are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility also didn't rate terribly in the category of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which turned out to be among its more favorable grades. In calculating our long-term care scores, we assess the personal care offered to the facility's residents. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 92.68293 percent of its patients for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility also didn't rate too badly in the area of short-term care. In fact, we gave it a grade of C in that category, which ended up being among its higher grades. Short-term care grades are typically employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical facility. The hope is always that this does not adversely impact the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The next area we looked at is nursing. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this category, which is a very poor grade. Our nursing rating is primarily based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility.
