Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this nursing home's overall performance, it did receive an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a B+. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid facilities that have too many deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies is this facility's best achievement.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of C for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade is largely tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded its third best category score in the area of long-term care. We awarded this facility a C in this area, which is a decent score. In forming our long-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's personal care services. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed was short-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this category, which is a poor score. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Considering its score in this category, we weren't stunned to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Frankly, this was what we expected here. Finally, we considered the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
