Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores are tied to many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received a first-rate grade of A- in our long-term care area. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also was awarded a first-rate short-term care score. Indeed, this turned out to be this nursing home's third best category grade. In that category, this facility received a grade of A-. Our short-term care ratings are likely most meaningful for patients needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. It doesn't look like this nursing home provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The final area we looked at was nursing. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a strong grade of B. Our nursing grade is based on the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed better than average in this area. This is often a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
