Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its favorable overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was dominant in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of A. Very few nursing homes received a better grade in this area. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 97.9021 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. When calculating our nursing ratings, we assess both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we graded was short-term care. We gave this nursing home one of our higher scores in that area, with a B. Even though this isn't on par with many of this facility's other scores, it is nevertheless an excellent score. Our short-term care grades are vital for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
