To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care grade. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 85.67073 percent of its residents. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This nursing home also performed well in inspections. It earned a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A. Few nursing homes with an overall grade in this range performed this well in multiple categories. Inspection ratings are based on several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspections. Facilities that excel in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. When computing our nursing ratings, we look at both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided just 0.6 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is significantly below average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

The next area we scored was short-term care. We gave this facility an acceptable grade in that area, with a grade of B-. While this isn't as high as many of this nursing home's other scores, it is nevertheless not a poor grade. Our short-term care grade is typically used to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. We weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
