Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we gave it a B+ for our inspections category. This is the result of the nursing home receiving a quality inspection report this year. Our inspection grades are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't perform too badly in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a C for that area, which ended up being among its higher grades. In calculating our short-term care grades, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This category is typically a fair measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The last measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Nursing scores are tied to nurse staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the final category, this facility did not fare very well in this category either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in long-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities offer. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 84.6473 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit below what we expected. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
