Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this facility really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area tend to have few severe deficiencies. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a favorable grade in our long-term care category. We gave this facility a better than average grade of B+ in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 95.40441 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. The nursing grade features numerous subcategories. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a low total compared with most nursing homes. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last category we rated is short-term care, which was this facility's weakest area. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area, which is certainly concerning. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. It appears that this place was below average in several staffing areas we focus on. The facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.8 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
