This facility is also above average in the category of short-term care, where it was given a score of B. It outpaced most facilities in this area. In forming these short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to formulate a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 4.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 96.850395 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the elderly population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
