We awarded this nursing home an A- for our long-term care grade. This score is much more impressive than its overall score. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 93.2353 percent of its residents, which is a bit less than we were hoping for. The last datapoint we assessed was its hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 2.35 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing grade. In fact, we gave this facility a grade of A-. Nursing scores are largely tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 4.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was among the highest totals we found. Lastly, this facility was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we looked at in this category. It performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

The third best category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In forming these short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 35.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

The final category we looked at is inspections. We gave it a C in this category. This is basically a middle of the pack score in this category. Nevertheless, it wasn't as good as some of this nursing home's other grades. Our inspection scores are based on many data points located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This means that this facility avoided the more serious classes of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
