Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home received a strong overall grade as discussed above, but we wanted to point out its excellent long-term care grade. We gave them an A+ in this category. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 95.85492 percent of its residents, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.06 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also excelled in inspections. In fact, we gave it an A for that category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of C in this category is by no means a bad score. There are a host of criteria within this category. Many of these subcategories are tied to staffing levels. This place provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was short-term care. We gave it an F for this category, which is a very poor score. We would not necessarily disqualify a nursing home because of a single concerning category though. Short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
