Registered Staff Hours
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We believe that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't grade out too badly in the category of short-term care. In fact, we gave it a grade of C in that category, which is among its more favorable scores. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The key is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our long-term care grade. This is not a very good score. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 98.17073 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
The next area we graded is nursing, in which this facility was given a rock bottom grade here also. We gave it an F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. When computing a facility's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses are caring for patients as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these data points to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
