Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to point out that this nursing home really outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A+. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings aren't something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was given a strong long-term care score. As a matter of fact, we awarded them a B in that area, which happens to be one of our better. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 92.72152 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit lower than we expected but still a decent figure. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of C. Our nursing score focuses on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of skill of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last area we looked at was short-term care, turned out to be this nursing home's weakest category. We gave this facility a grade of D in that category. This really was one of the couple of weak points in a strong profile. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
