Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving an elite overall score, this facility also earned an A+ inspection grade. This score is based on its recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Our inspection ratings are based on several pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also would like to emphasize the fact that this facility received a first-rate score of A- in our long-term care category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 98.657715 percent of its patients. This is a reliable method to minimize negative health outcomes for the nursing home population. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was given a favorable short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B+. In our short-term care rating, we seek to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

The next area we graded ended up being this facility's worst category. Nevertheless, even its weakest link would actually be a strength for many nursing homes. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in our nursing category. The nursing score includes several data points, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
