Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. It does not appear that we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also received a dominant short-term care grade. Indeed, this is its second strongest category score. In that area, we awarded this facility a score of A. Short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Building on its remarkable resume, this facility also was given a superb long-term care score, with a grade of A. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.06832 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

The final category we analyzed is nursing, where this facility received a grade of A. This wrapped up an elite profile. Very few nursing homes earned an A- or better in every category. The nursing rating features a variety of factors. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a patient at least once a day.
