Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this place ended up being a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical area. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its top-shelf performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care score. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.3994 percent of its patients. This is a proven method to avoid unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the nursing home population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. The nursing score analyzes many subcategories, but the most important one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The final category we scored is short-term care, where this facility received a B+. This wrapped up an elite profile. Few facilities received a B+ or better in every single category. Short-term care grades are often employed to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
