Facility Inspections
In addition to being an elite nursing home overall, this facility excelled in our inspections category, where it received an A+. Few facilities fared as well in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This first-rate facility also fared very well in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a score of A+. Very few nursing homes fared better in this category. Our short-term care ratings are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. The nursing rating weighs quite a few components, however, the primary consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning patients more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
In our final category, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for our long-term care grade. This topped off a very favorable report card. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are well cared for. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
