Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility really outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in this area with a grade of A. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's better category grades was in the area of short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually outperformed most facilities in this area. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. We weren't able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a decent grade of B-. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.604744 percent of its patients. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final area we rated is nursing. We gave this facility a D for our nursing category, leaving this as the nursing home's weakest category grade. Our nursing score features numerous data points. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This place offered a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is an alarmingly low total. On top of receiving below average marks for total nursing hours, this place was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percent of patients suffering pressure ulcers and found this nursing home was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this metric. This is a bad sign when you consider that many pressure ulcers are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This statistic dragged down this nursing home's nursing score significantly.
