This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its excellent health inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A- in this category. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is a good sign for this facility.

Next we looked at nursing grades, where this nursing home received an F, which is a rock bottom grade. This area was definitely not a strength for this facility. Our nursing score analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This statistic is quite a bit below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these datapoints to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area is short-term care, which is the final area we looked at. We gave it an abysmal F in this area. Despite a few decent grades in other categories, this grade is still alarming so we would like to to point it out. Our short-term care grade is often employed to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
