One of the reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is just about as good as it gets in this very important category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some can be relatively minor. Fortunately, although this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

This facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Nursing ratings are primarily tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The third area we looked at is short-term care. This nursing home was awarded a favorable short-term care score, with a grade of B in the category. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation To have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. Even though this is not on par with many of this nursing home's other scores, it is still nothing to be ashamed of.
