Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ long-term care grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.30314 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we awarded this facility an A. We weighed the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses spent with residents, in calculating our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The third area we analyzed was short-term care. Adding to its top-shelf profile, this facility also excelled in this category. In fact, we gave it a of A- in that area. With our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

In the last area we looked at, we found that this facility received a solid government inspection report this year as well, with few major dings from government inspectors. It earned a decent grade in our inspection category with a B. This nursing home really didn't have any major weak links. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area generally have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
