Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall rating, this nursing home also earned an A+ inspection rating. This grade is based on the facility's recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ for its long-term care grade. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 98.5342 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. The nursing rating analyzes many subcategories, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we looked at was short-term care. We awarded this facility one of our better scores in that category, with a grade of B. While this wasn't as strong as several of this facility's other scores, it is nevertheless an excellent grade. Our short-term care ratings are critical for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
