Grade: A-plus

On top of faring well overall, this nursing home also received nearly flawless government inspections. Therefore, it earned one of our highest grades in that area with a grade of A+. Inspection ratings are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also performed well in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a score of A. Few facilities performed better in this category. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 93.03797 percent of its patients. This is a few points lower than we were hoping for but still a respectable figure. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. When calculating our nursing grades, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning residents even once per day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final area we scored is short-term care, in which this nursing home received a B. Even though this wound up being its poorest category score, this is nevertheless a favorable grade. Short-term care grades are often employed to grade a facility's rehabilitation services. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
