Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This score is much more impressive than the facility's overall score. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid places with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. While this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Short-term care ratings are crucial for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care score. This is not a very good score. For residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 95.132744 percent of its residents, which is higher than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

This facility's worst category is nursing, which is the last area we scored. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D. The nursing grade weighs several data points, however, the most important consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes.
