Facility Inspections
While we didn't give this facility a good overall score, we actually gave it a strong grade in the category of inspections, where it received a B. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid facilities that had too many deficiencies. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second most favorable category came in the area of short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a C. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is considered to be a reliable measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The critical question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home. This figure was below average.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it an impressive grade of D for that category, which is one of our highest grades. Our nursing grade considers several factors. The most heavily weighted one is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was given a rock bottom score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is definitely very concerning. Nursing homes that do not score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 92.59259 percent of its patients. This is a bit lower than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
