While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B for our nursing rating. There are quite a few factors within this area. Many of these datapoints relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

We actually gave this facility a very solid score in the area of inspections as well. We awarded it a B- in this category. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

The third most favorable area we awarded this facility in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a C. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, we found that this nursing home provided respectable levels of physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 34.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Historical

The next category we assessed is long-term care. This facility received an abysmal grade of F in that category. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 89.87342 percent of its patients. This is several points less than the national average. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at limiting hospitalizations. Although it had 2.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was not bad since it had some more complicated patients. This is its best feature in this category
