Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is one of our better scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in categories G through L. This indicates that this facility dodged the more ominous classes of deficiencies. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing score is primarily associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is far below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
Our third category we graded was long-term care, in which this facility was given an F. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.67141 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we graded was short-term care, in which this nursing home was given a very poor grade in this category as well. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is definitely somewhat alarming. Short-term care grades are typically employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last item we considered in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 2.8 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
