Long-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great facility is that it received a very impressive long-term care score. In that area, we gave this facility an impressive grade of A. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.38709 percent of its patients, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. In determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are caring for residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections
We awarded this facility a grade of A- for inspections. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This nursing home was hit with 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last area, this facility also excelled in our short-term care category. We awarded it a B+ for this category. This finalized a very impressive profile. In calculating our short-term care scores, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
