Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. The nursing grade is based on numerous factors. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This facility provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Turning to inspections, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the nursing home's government inspections. We awarded it an A for that category. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

The third category we analyzed is short-term care. Adding to its impressive profile, this nursing home also excelled in this category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of of A for that area. With our short-term care score, we attempt to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The last category we scored is long-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a B+. This rounded out a very strong report card. Only a select few facilities received a B+ or higher in all four categories. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.11504 percent of its patients, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
