While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Another issue is the F this facility received in the category of short-term care. Our short-term care scores are meaningful for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. With its weak rating in this category, we weren't surprised to find this nursing home provided substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes.
