On top of earning a strong overall grade, this nursing home fared well in short-term care. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our best grades. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to forge a sound barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This nursing home provides more services with physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is usually a favorable sign. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this nursing home. On top of excelling in the area of physical therapy staffing, we found that it performed as well as just about any facility in the nation in this area with 63.9 percent of its residents returning home.

In addition, this nursing home earned top notch government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with an A-. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category usually have very few severe deficiencies. We weren't able to find information about this nursing home's deficiencies. We wish we had more data for this facility. Without having complete information regarding deficiencies, it ended up being a challenge to assess this facility in the area of inspections.

This facility received even higher grades in the area of nursing. In fact, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A-. The nursing rating analyzes quite a few subcategories, but the primary one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an impressive figure which typically leads to higher quality care. Lastly, this nursing home also excelled in several quality-based metrics we looked at. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category.

The next category we scored was long-term care. This nursing home was awarded a better than average long-term care grade this year, with a C. Even though this was not nearly as elite as a few of its other category grades, this is nevertheless a respectable rating for that category. Our long-term care grade focuses on a facility's assistance with daily living instead of the highly skilled nursing and healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 91.16022 percent of its residents against pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.27 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
